Helpful Hints about Mobility

Things you should know before you purchase mobility equipment:

  • Many people are not aware how much mobility equipment would improve their lifestyle.
  • Most mobility equipment is special ordered to fit the patient's needs.
  • Save time and money.   Contact us before purchasing any pre-owned equipment from the internet, garage sales, or anyone.
  • A proper mobility evaluation will help find a cost-effective long term solution versus an expensive short term solution.

  • Many people with disabilities purchase equipment from the internet, garage sales, flea markets and the like thinking the equipment would work for them only to find out later that they had purchased equipment that wasn't suitable for their needs and their vehicle. Also, the equipment might possibly wind up damaging their power chair or their vehicle.
  • Also, never purchase a vehicle you intend to modify for mobility without getting an evaluation from a Certified Mobility Consultant.
  • A Certified Mobility Consultant will ask questions about the patient’s disability, about existing mobility equipment, and about the vehicle the patient’s vehicle.
  • Mobility equipment should be purchased to match the specific results of the evaluation based on that particular person’s need. Mobility equipment is not universal and is ordered, manufactured, installed and adjusted specifically for each customer.  Every order is a special order.
  • A patient’s disability often changes over time and, as a result, that patient’s mobility needs may change as well. This should be considered carefully when choosing mobility equipment.
